SASCE presented at United Nations Society of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki

Safer and Stronger Communities in Europe (SASCE) project was presented at the United Nations Society of Aristotle University by Dr Elizabeta Kitanovic, Executive Secretary for Human Rights at the Conference of European Churches, on 17 February in Thessaloniki.

This initiative came from Prof. Nikos Maghioros, President of the School of Theology of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki and director of the Master Program in Religion, Geopolitics and Global Security. In his remarks, Maghioros underlined the importance of interdisciplinary scientific approach between theology, law and security regarding the protection of the public spaces.

He stressed that as academics and future generations, we need to contribute to social cohesion, peace and security as active European citizens.

The SASCE project is carried out by CEC, together with European religious partners, funded by the Internal Police Fund of the European Commission.

SASCE aims to increase security in and around places of worship, as well as within and between communities. The project is implemented across 15 European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
